Term 6

The final term of the school year promises to be an exciting one as we approach the end of our academic journey. In Science, we will explore the fascinating changes and growth our bodies undergo, concentrating on the key stages of the human life cycle. In Art, we will be investigating how different artists use mixed media to explore land and cityscapes, bringing our own sketchbooks to life in our school environment. In Design and Technology, we will explore various methods to embellish and join fabric, in order to create a mobile phone case. We will craft a non-chronological report on polar bears in English, detailing their habitat, behaviour, and conservation status.  We will continue to read our class book, the intriguing story of the '1000-Year-Old Boy' by Ross Welford.

For all the information on what we are learning this term, please click on the links at the bottom of the page.

P.E: This term P.E will be on Wednesday and Friday, so please make sure you come to school in the correct P.E uniform.

You will need to wear:

  • Plain black / navy shorts, plain white t-shirt or white t-shirt with school logo
  • Daps for indoor PE
  • Trainers for outdoor PE
  • Plain black / navy joggers and a plain black / navy sweatshirt or ‘hoodie’ may be worn for cold weather outdoor PE in the winter.
  • A blue school fleece with logo is also available
  • Please remember to pack socks for those who wear tights with their normal school clothes.

Please do not wear different colours or clothes with other logos.

Home Learning:

Please encourage your children to complete the weekly home learning which is set on Google classroom as it helps to support class learning and develops good habits for the future.

English and Maths tasks are set on a Friday to be completed by the following Wednesday, these are linked to class learning. In addition, you should read as much as you can and revise key word spellings and times tables. Listening to a audio book is also a good way to encourage yourself to read different genres.

A project linked to our class topic will be set termly if you would like an extra challenge.  This will be then be presented in class if you would like to, and class rewards will be made to celebrate hard work.

Any help needed with logging into Google Classroom then please email school admin. If anyone has any questions about home learning or another issue, then please do not hesitate to speak to any of the Year 5 team who will be more than happy to help.
